What if Adam and Eve Didn't Fall?

The connection between Genesis 1―4 and Skinwalker Ranch

If you had asked me 20 years ago why there was suffering in the world, I’d have answered that it’s because we live in a fallen world. Meaning, Adam and Eve “fell,” or sinned, so death reigned from Adam to Moses, not just in human souls, but in all of nature; but God gave us a means of atonement through the Law.

Meanwhile, we are all born with the stain of original sin, and we need the waters of baptism or the forgiveness of Jesus to cleanse sin away. Catholics and Protestants alike dub this Original Sin. All humanity is born with it.

Dot number one, the Genesis serpent

“Every source has a purpose,’ writes Lauren McCormick for Bible History Daily. “A document created by a government, ruler, or institution is not simply a neutral record of everything that happened. It reflects the concerns and priorities of the people who produced it. So the important question for a historian is not whether a source is biased, but what kinds of information that source can provide.” 

In the era when Genesis 1―11 was written, there was no earth science, anthropology, archaeology, or paleontology. There were only Mesopotamian legends in which gods and goddesses mated, fought and killed each other, got drunk, created earth and heaven, and caused the Flood because human noise interrupted their sleep, etc. Same with the century when the doctrine of original sin was established.

The probable context of Genesis 1―11 is this: a bunch of priests and scribes were in captivity in Assyria or Babylon, their land ravaged and their temple ruined or given over to false gods. They were ensconced in a land where abundant libraries offered creation and Flood legends much older than the states of Israel and Judah, older than even the Hebrew language, which were baked into the culture of their new habitation.

There is so much of value that can be extracted from those chapters, even if one doesn’t take them as literal history.

In this post, I want to focus on just one aspect of the narratives, the serpent of Genesis 3. According to Genesis 1, Adam and Eve are supposed to rule over their environment and fill the earth with humans. In Gen. 2, we see two naked naifs confined to a garden who don’t know the difference between right and wrong.

Immortal or no, they can’t stay that way. They have advanced brains, exquisite bodies, emotions, full language capacity, and a destiny to break out into the world to learn, invent, sing, plant, reap, write, and fight.

But they need some kind of catalyst to break the status quo, and that turned out to be an encounter with a “serpent,” but not a literal snake, right? This character was what the UFO community calls an NHI, a non-human intelligence. Unless you think that 6,000 years ago there were literally real talking snakes that stood upright and used human psychology and propaganda to thwart Yahweh, this serpent is a metaphor. And so was the curse that caused him to crawl on the ground and eat dust.

The talking snake had a higher IQ than all the beasts of the field. Could all the beasts talk? The humans weren’t surprised by this conversation. They were confronted by an entity so powerful and manipulative that he set himself above God the Creator. He promised two naive individuals, who were totally unprepared for his ability to deceive, that they too could become wise like the gods. He hinted that the threat of death was misinformation. So, they took the bait.

Of course they did. Most of us fall for this line even today. Jesus met with the same temptation in the wilderness as he fasted for 40 days. He didn’t take the deal. (Matt. 4:1-11)

They are instantly catapulted into the adults they were always meant to be; sexual, self-aware, and cognizant that they had disobeyed a good entity and maybe unleashed something bad on the earth.

The reality was a shattering adjustment. Now they knew shame. Now they would be accountable for the wrong they chose to do. They had the full aptitude to choose. A toddler doesn’t choose. They act on impulse.

Mankind now has something called free will. It is not a sin to grow up. It is a sin to use our intelligent powers to exploit and hurt others.

All too suddenly, the game, a very real game, was afoot. The “serpent” vs the Kingdom of God.

Dot number two, reptilian aliens and the UAP gatekeepers

Up to 2009, the most famous and important reporting location for UFOs was MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, but MUFON was short of funds for their response policies. A billionaire named Robert Bigelow had just bought Skinwalker Ranch, renowned for mysterious portals, UFO sightings, cryptid beasts, and paranormal hauntings. He wanted to study it all. He created NIDS, the National Institute for Discovery Science, to study the ranch, and BAASS, Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies. MUFON entered a contract with Bigelow where BAASS could share all of MUFON's cases and resources in exchange for a whole lot of money.

 A battle for the soul of MUFON arose because it was suspected that Bigelow’s backers were the U.S. alphabet departments (DIA, CIA, NSA, etc.) that had been covering up UFO reality since Roswell in 1947. Bigelow wouldn’t reveal his sources, and MUFON wouldn’t explain changes in the board that caused no end of trouble. Bigelow’s BAASS was stealing cases; new members of the MUFON board were supremely arrogant; board members were applying for secret security clearances; and long-time volunteers with years of expertise who didn’t like the new regime were fired, yelled at, or humiliated.

About that time, a cabal of interested US government officials were aware that the UFO phenomenon might be real and worth studying. To help fend off the “woo-woo” mockery, “aliens” became ETs, EBEs (extraterrestrial biological entities), or NHIs (non-human entities). UFOs became UAP, unidentified anomalous phenomena.

Years later, it would come out that government money was indeed behind all the secrecy at MUFON. Congress would continue to establish official offices to investigate aliens, abductions, and UFO crashes, one of them being AAWSAP (Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Application Program), the program behind Bigelow’s funding. Bigelow’s research was therefore classified and couldn’t be shared.

I was in the middle of the kerfuffle because of my blog Eternal Gateways (now God, Aliens, and Other Stuff). I was concerned that the enemies of transparency were invading MUFON. I worked with Elaine Douglass, president of The Committee to Reform MUFON, who fed me some of the inside info I needed for my reports. In 2010, MUFON broke with BAASS.

AAWSAP, AATIP (Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program), and AARO (All-domain Anonymous Resolution Office) were formed as a result of ongoing UFO reports, well-connected believers in government offices, and Bigelow-type research.

This exotic knowledge was so sacred that it was considered above top secret. Presidents didn’t have the clearance to be fully informed. The military was realizing that UFOs were real, that we couldn’t control them, and that they weren’t friendly. Some of these X-Filers thought they were just biblical demons.

They assessed that there were perhaps four species of NHI. One of the nastiest of them is called “reptilians.” According to abundant witness reports, they look absolutely terrifying. So, let’s draw a line connecting reptilian aliens to the serpent in the Bible, because although I see the story as a theological metaphor, the author is perhaps conveying a warning that they saw and dealt with these NHIs as deceivers and entities opposed to God’s plan for mankind. They didn’t have a name for the entity that opposed God, but they felt its presence.

A very wealthy realtor named Brandon Fugal bought Skinwalker Ranch from Robert Bigelow in 2016. At first, he didn’t take the ranch’s reputation seriously. He thought he might own it long enough to debunk the creepy stories that oozed out from the NIDS research. Six months later, he saw a UFO at the ranch, and that turned his perspective upside down. The weekly introduction to his show, The Secret of Skinwalker Ranch, notes the fact that Bigelow won’t (can’t) share his research.

However, in an interview that I watched recently, Bigelow admitted that members of his staff were injured by the entities there, and everyone took “hitchhikers” home. Hitchhiker is a term for a recognized phenomenon that people exposed to the ranch experience weird and sometimes dangerous paranormal events at home. Family members are not immune. Brandon Fugal has stated that he will never let his children visit the ranch.

Dot number three, Marian apparitions

I’ve written extensively about apparitions of the Blessed Virgin, always in a negative way. I wish I could do otherwise.

Would that sweet Mother Mary were the real deal. She does have ways to get our attention. She talks about prayer, repentance, and her Son, Jesus. She predicts wars, but she doesn’t start them, and she doesn’t charge to take your prayers to the throne of God, but my research of theology, paranormal phenomena, and UFOs bursts that bubble every time I read about her appearances.

If you’re not into adoration, she’s not one to ignore. She has religious, cultural, sociological, and political impacts, and she knows how to push all the right buttons. From appearance to appearance, with miracles and healings, Mary has become so powerful she is practically a goddess. As Queen of the Heavens and Queen of the Angels, she is the equal of Ishtar or Asherah of the ancient Near East.

During her appearance that stunned the Spanish bishop at Tenochtitlan (Mexico City) in 1531, she claimed to be the Mother of God. Think a minute. Not the mother of Jesus. A mother precedes the thing she bears. She nurtures her child and for a season has authority over it. Mary didn’t lie. According to orthodox theology, Jesus is God. But she didn’t clarify that. Instead, she stood on the site of an ancient temple where an Aztec goddess also claimed to be the Mother of God, allowing people to blend the two entities.

In later appearances, she claimed to be the channel of all prayers from the petitioner to Jesus. So, without adoration of her, your prayers bounce off the ceiling and hit the floor.

If I’m right, the beautiful “Mary” isn’t just your everyday Halloween demon that might channel through a Ouija Board. She’s a principality, a shape-shifting, frickin’ big deal. She absolutely deserves our attention. She may not even be a female.

What does it all mean, where does it all lead?

The UFO/Abduction phenomena increased in intensity and quantity after the Roswell incident in 1947, meaning after the atomic age became a major threat to the planet. The Bigelow BAASS team and Brandon Fugal’s crew are trying to find a logical, scientific explanation for how these lights in the sky function and why they do what they do, because until we understand how they attack and manipulate us, we are just helpless prey. They also realize that there is a spiritual aspect to UAP phenomenon that is profound, important, and opaque.

I asked Grok AI why Luis Elizondo titled his book Imminent. Here’s what it answered:

The full title is Imminent: Inside the Pentagon’s Hunt for UFOs (2024). Elizondo notes that “imminent” is sometimes linked to the idea of a threat, but that is not his primary intent. He chose it because common definitions mean “something is about to happen, or impending or inevitable.” In his words:

He ultimately leaves the precise meaning to the reader.
